BASICS MANAGING FOR SMALL ORGANIZATION
- PART TWO -
(Based my experience how to training High School student on Management)
Last time, I have explained about Basics managing for small organization in Part One, and now I will continue to study basic management, for do that please you see again the last study in part one.
In the last explanation we studied on how the management developments from Input, Process until Output, and we know that become wrapped around The Functional of Management are Planning, Organizing and Actuating. Including the Output in Report of Project.
And now we will discuss about the last part of The Functional Management is “Controlling”, likes Planning, organizing and actuating then controlling is part of Operational Direction and special in Operation Function but controlling is very special Operation function because Controlling have “a hard job” is to control our Input, our Process and our output also the connection and harmony between Input, Process and Output.
Sometime we do not find any deviation on our work in organization, but sometime too we find that our work have deviation, which can be make our work to be failure. And we do not know how it be happen, how we make one or more deviation, and only by one way that we must and must control our movement every time, we will find our movement have a deviation or not.
Deviation can be happen during we inside the process or may be in Input also in output, controlling is an “actor” how to control input – process – output is well working without any deviation and failure.
When we find any deviation in our work or project, we must directly and immediately to “Correction” the deviation until working well on the track again.
Since we find any Deviation until make Correction action, we have move to carefully analysis on deviation but must be immediately too, until we have the Correction action. And from do that we will use another management knowledge is “The Decision Making”.

We will inside to study of Decision Making, for me the Decision Making is important part in management because if we make wrong decision or may be only a little wrong will become the worst condition in our project until we failure to finished well of the project.
“Make wrong decision is worst act than bad action from a thousand devil”, based on the above, we must understand that decision making is very important for our project or very important for (functional) management.
How we get the right decision? Here we begin to learn step by step the technique of Decision Making:
- Understanding why we must take one or more decision.
The decision must be made because we get one or more Problem and in last Diagram I the problem is a deviation detected from controlling in the Input – Process – Output part.
And what is problem definition? Problem emerge because any different result between output and process or input target, or different result between process with input also different result in input with the process, etc. In another word Problem is different result with the target needed.
- Problem Analysis
The problem must be analyzed about what the reason of problem? We can try to analyze with make the list what you thinking about the reason but in one condition that the list must be based “Fact” not on your suggestion only.
Many facts you will find, but more facts you get is more better than only few facts, why because with more facts we can help to find what the reason of the problem emerge more accurately, in another word more data we can get more better we will take a decision.
From more facts we must screening until we get the prime fact, which more closely with the problem. From the prime fact we will search “The Prime Reason”.
If we get the prime reason from the problem we will inside to Problem Solving action
- Problem Solving
In this part we begin to solve the problem with prime reason data and support by prime fact data, we begin make more alternate problem solving and for help you make a decision you can use “Brainstorming” for make more alternative for solve the problem
After you make the alternative for solve the problem, you will make a criteria and from the criteria you will get conclusion what alternates you will take for your decision. But the conclusion will find after you make a standard value for each criteria.
Example table for support your Problem Solving.

From on the above example table, we can see that Alternative 4 is suggestion for Decision, which have a lot of value.
After we get the decision, used the decision for “CORRECTION” of deviation, and the correction is for Input, process or output or may be for all part.
From here we can to see that Decision Making is very nearly with the function of management without Decision Making, I think we cannot do anything for running well the function of management and fore all management.
Someday I will present my opinion about the Decision Making toward the function of management.
